Download and Unzip the Release

Go to the Download page and download the latest release. Save it somewhere you can easily find (e.g. your Desktop or Downloads folder).

Unzip that download. It is a package that contains the documentation plus the file NinjaTrader actually imports. Inside you will find:

• A second .zip with no hyphen in the name — e.g. CustomDOMv<version>.zipCustomChartv<version>.zip. This is the file you import into NinjaTrader.
• README.txt, INSTALL.txt, CHANGELOG.txt, LICENSE.txt

Important: do not unzip that inner file — NinjaTrader imports it as a .zip. Only the outer download gets unzipped.

Telling the two apart: the outer download has a hyphen before the version (CustomDOM-v<version>.zipCustomChart-v<version>.zip); the one you import does not (CustomDOMv<version>.zipCustomChartv<version>.zip). If NinjaTrader says the file is incompatible, you picked the outer one.

Import into NinjaTrader 8

1. Open NinjaTrader 8
2. Go to the menu bar and click Tools
3. Select Import > NinjaScript Add-On...
4. Navigate to the inner .zip — the one with no hyphen, e.g. CustomDOMv<version>.zipCustomChartv<version>.zip, from inside the download you unzipped in Step 1
5. Select the file and click Open
6. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the import
7. You should see a confirmation that the import was successful
8. NinjaTrader then asks you to restart — click OK and let it restart

Open CustomDOMOpen CustomChart and Activate

1. In NinjaTrader 8, go to New > CustomDOM from the Control Center
2. Alternatively, find it under the Add-Ons section in your workspace
3. Select an instrument and connect to your data feed
4. The CustomDOM window will open with default settings

1. After the restart, open the Control Center and click the New menu
2. Click CustomChart from the New menu
3. On first open a License Required overlay appears — paste your license key and click Activate
4. Choose your default account on the Trader panel. The overlay closes once the key is accepted

Configure Your Settings

Click the Settings button in the CustomDOM header to open the settings panel, organized into six tabs:

• Account: License key and default account selection
• Brackets: Tick / ATR / Dollar bracket presets, breakeven offset, trail-stop mode
• Risk: Max order quantity, market-entry safety, alt-account confirmation, max daily loss auto-flatten
• Display: Auto-center, ATR level shading, visible columns, indicator overlays (EMA, SMA, Pivot Points, Globex/RTH VWAP)
• Audio: Audio order flow — enable, volume, minimum print size, large-print accent, rate cap
• Controls: What each mouse gesture places — left-click, shift + left-click and right-click can each be Limit, Stop, Auto (by market) or Off — plus keyboard shortcuts for Center DOM, Buy Bid, Sell Ask, Breakeven, Flatten and Cancel All

Open the gear menu on the chart toolbar — it holds Indicators, Drawings, Footprint bars and Settings. The settings panel covers:

• Account: License key, default account, and the TradersForge Journal connection
• Brackets: Default take-profit / stop in ticks, or ATR- and dollar-based
• Risk: Per-account guardrails
• Appearance: Candle body and wick colors, and chart styling
• Data: History lookback presets, trading-hours template, live refresh
• Hotkeys: Enable hotkeys and assign your own

README.txt in the package you unzipped is the full feature tour — indicators, Volume Profile, Trade Review and the Journal push.

Save Your Template

Once you have configured CustomDOM to your liking, save your settings as a template so you can quickly apply them to new instances. Right-click and select Save Template to store your configuration.

CustomChart saves two kinds of template from the toolbar: Layout Templates (your 1×1 through 3×3 grid and its sync settings) and Indicator Templates (the active indicator set). Save the arrangement you trade from once and recall it in a click — you can also favourite indicators for one-click recall from the pills.
