Static Drawdown Prop Firms 2026
Last reviewed: October 25, 2026
Static drawdown from day one, a line set once and never moved, now exists in futures, but only on limited or experimental plans. MFFU's Studio #001 and #002 have a static $500 or $1,000 max loss in both the evaluation and sim funded stages, on 10K and 20K micros-only accounts that run on Hyperprop. Traders Launch sells a static TL Early Access launch drop, and TopStep has run static Combines as limited Labs drops. On every firm's standard lineup the line still trails at some point, so for a full-size account the useful question is not "who is static" but where the trail stops. Alpha's Maximum Loss Limit trails at end of day and locks permanently at your starting balance, roughly a 4% gain. Earn2Trade fixes the line only at the top of its Trader Career Path ladder. If you have been burned by a trailing reversal, weigh a small static account against a full-size account whose trail stops early.
Static drawdown from day one exists in futures only on limited plans: MFFU Studio (10K or 20K, $500 or $1,000 static limit, micros only, Hyperprop only) and Traders Launch's TL Early Access drop. On a standard full-size plan, nothing is static from day one; Alpha Futures comes closest with an end-of-day trail that locks permanently at your starting balance.
For active traders the difference between a moving floor and a fixed one can decide whether an account survives. Every winning streak walks a trailing floor up, so a drawdown after a strong run can breach your max-loss rule while you are still profitable overall. Static plans remove that, and in October 2026 you can finally buy one, but each comes with a constraint that matters as much as the label: MFFU Studio is micros only with a $500 or $1,000 limit, and the TopStep and Traders Launch versions are limited drops. On a full-size standard plan the useful question is still where the trail stops and how long it takes you to get there — Alpha and Take Profit Trader PRO stop at the starting balance, MFFU Rapid locks at a set level once funded, Earn2Trade fixes only at the top of the ladder, and Apex Intraday never stops during an evaluation at all.
The picks
MFFU Studio #001 (10K, $140 one-time) and #002 (20K, $280) set the max loss at $500 or $1,000 when the account starts, and it never moves in the evaluation or the sim funded stage: no trail and no end-of-day reset. No daily loss limit, no consistency rule, no minimum days, and payouts any time once flat. The catches are real: micros only (10 or 20, no minis), Hyperprop is the only platform, one Studio account at a time, a daily purchase cap that can sell out, a sim funded account that starts at a $0 balance with a $5,000 or $10,000 daily profit cap, and once you move to a Live account (after 5 payouts, or $5,000 or $10,000 requested) the limit trails at end of day and locks at $100.
Earn2Trade is the one firm whose standard path ends in drawdown that is actually fixed rather than trailing, and the caveat is the whole story: it applies only at the TOP of a Trader Career Path plan. A TCP25 scaled to a $200K account fixes the minimum balance at $194K; TCP50 and TCP100 scaled to $400K fix it at $388K. Everything before that is End-of-Day drawdown through evaluation and funded LiveSim, switching to continuous trailing on Live accounts. So this is a destination, not a starting condition. Founded 2017, the longest-running firm in the space.
Alpha is not static and its own documentation does not claim it is. The Maximum Loss Limit trails at end of day on every Alpha plan. What makes it different is where the trail STOPS: once the limit reaches your account starting balance it locks there permanently, so after roughly a 4% gain your floor sits at breakeven and no further winning day tightens it. For a trader who has been knocked out by a trailing reversal but wants a full-size account, that is most of the benefit of static without the label. Alpha also permits holding through news events, which is rare, and Zero accounts carry no activation fee. Founded 2023, so the shorter track record is the real trade-off.

Why some firms aren't on this list
All of these use trailing drawdown, intraday or EOD, with no static option on their current plans. One is worth knowing about anyway if a stopping trail is what you actually want: Take Profit Trader's PRO drawdown stops at the starting balance. Not static, but it stops moving, which is the property that matters if trailing reversals are what has been ending your accounts.
Not reviewed by TradersForge yet, so not ranked here, but its TL Early Access launch drop has a static max drawdown: $500, $1,000 or $2,000 on 25K, 50K or 100K, with a 50% evaluation consistency rule enforced as a daily profit cap and a one-time fee. It is limited to 1,000 accounts; 297 were left on October 8, 2026.
TopStep's standard Trading Combine trails at end of day. Its Labs program has sold static-limit Combines as limited drops ($25K Static, then $50K Static with a $2,000 static limit and a mandatory $1,000 daily loss limit), but on October 8, 2026 Topstep listed both as past drops. TopStep accounts also trade only on TopstepX, not Tradovate or NinjaTrader.

Frequently asked questions
What is static drawdown in prop firm trading?
Static drawdown means your maximum loss line is set at the start of your evaluation or funded account and never moves. If you have a $50K account with $2K max drawdown, your account can drop to $48K without violation — and that line stays at $48K forever. As you profit, the cushion between your equity and the line GROWS permanently. Trailing drawdown, by contrast, walks the line up as you profit, eroding the cushion.
Which futures prop firms have static drawdown from day one?
As of October 2026, only limited plans. MFFU Studio #001 and #002 (10K and 20K, micros only, Hyperprop only) have a static $500 or $1,000 limit in the evaluation and sim funded stages. Traders Launch sells a static TL Early Access launch drop at 25K, 50K and 100K, limited to 1,000 accounts. TopStep has sold static Combines as Labs drops, now listed as past drops. No firm's standard full-size plan is static from day one.
Why do most prop firms only offer trailing drawdown?
Trailing drawdown caps the firm's downside. The trader's buffer stays bounded, which is simpler to model risk on, and it discourages holding a large profit cushion indefinitely. That is why it is the default across the industry, and why the static plans that exist are small, limited or experimental: MFFU caps Studio at 20 micros and a $1,000 limit, and TopStep and Traders Launch sell theirs as limited drops. The middle ground firms have converged on for full-size accounts is a trail that STOPS somewhere, which is what Alpha, Take Profit Trader PRO and MFFU Rapid each do at different points.
Is Alpha Futures the only prop firm whose drawdown stops trailing?
No, and Alpha is not static either — its Maximum Loss Limit trails at end of day and then locks at your starting balance. Take Profit Trader's PRO drawdown also stops at the starting balance, and MFFU's Rapid trail locks at a set level once funded, so three established firms cap the trail in some form. What Alpha pairs it with is the permission to hold through news events, which is genuinely uncommon. If you want a line that is fixed from the moment you start, look at the limited static plans instead: MFFU Studio or Traders Launch TL Early Access.
What's the catch with MFFU Studio's static drawdown?
Size and access. Studio accounts are 10K or 20K, micros only, one at a time, and run only on Hyperprop, so you cannot trade them through Tradovate or NinjaTrader. Each plan has a daily purchase cap. The sim funded account starts at a $0 balance and forfeits profit above $5,000 or $10,000 in a day. And the static limit covers the evaluation and sim funded stages only: a Live account, after 5 payouts or $5,000 or $10,000 requested, trails at end of day and locks at $100.
What's the catch with Alpha's drawdown?
Two things. First, it is not actually static: the Maximum Loss Limit trails at end of day until it reaches your starting balance, so you carry a moving floor through roughly the first 4% and only then does it lock. Plenty of write-ups, including an earlier version of this page, call it static — it is not, and Alpha's own docs do not claim it is. Second, Alpha is a newer firm (founded 2023), less battle-tested than Apex (2021) or Earn2Trade (2017), and Zero has its own consistency rules and account-size limits. The stopping trail is a real structural advantage; the trade-off is a younger firm and a first 4% that behaves like everyone else's.
How do I track static or stopping drawdown in TradersForge?
TradersForge's Pro tier ($10/month) models each plan's drawdown as the plan defines it: a static line on MFFU Studio, and on Alpha the part that trips people up, an end-of-day trail that STOPS at your starting balance. A tracker that assumes a static line will overstate your headroom during Alpha's first 4%, and one that assumes an endless trail will understate it afterwards. Import your fills and it shows your live distance to the floor, and whether the floor has locked yet. Alpha now runs on AlphaTrader, TradingView, WealthCharts, Quantower and Deepcharts, and MFFU Studio on Hyperprop; none of them syncs directly, so those trades come in by CSV import or manual entry rather than broker sync.
